Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Good pizza served with a smile. Beef patty ok, not especially tasty.

Having coming here for over 10 years I do not order from here anymore the quality of the food have when down the hole. The taste and style they cook the food is totally different. I heard the last owner left now it's a Brazilian guy who design the new menu. Umm... Brazilian making pizza ?? not good lol trust me. one that kind of good is the buffalo chicken slice. They don't even used Italianate sausage anymore crazy right?

I went to Francesca's as it was one of the few places on the food delivery sites to come up with a Buffalo Chicken Salad. I ordered the salad to go. It is quite large, and comes with huge pieces of chicken and many veggies. Every time I have ordered, they included four large garlic knots, which is always a nice meal addition. The staff is always very friendly upon arrival.

Over 2 hours for a large pie. When we called (twice) to find out when we could expect the delivery they were not helpful at all. Will never order from this place again.

The tomato sauce they use here is very bland - definitely of the cheap canned variety. As a result, the food was pretty bland. There are much better pizzerias in the area. A plus that I will give them is that one of the things I tried here was a Half Chicken Parmigiana, Half Meatball sandwich. It is like getting two six inch submarine sandwiches for the price of one. That is a great idea that other places should try doing.

I'm a new yorker born and raised. I've been eating pizza even before I had teeth. This place has good pizza and is a good value. $2.25 for a slice is not exorbitant. They have a great $5 two slice and can soda special. They always have a good selection of drinks. The area isn't the best but the staff is very hard-working and friendly. You want a slice served to you upside down with cheese on the side? These guys will do it for you. It's my weekly stop after I go to the doctor and I wish them well.

Boy, this one goes directly to my "MEH" list. After seeing countless menus laying about my building entrance now and then I decided to grab a few slices the other day. Probably one of the most unflavorable slices I have tasted here in the city. Dough was also not cooked right to me. Bland pizza sucks! Never really see anyone in this place either, as they must survive on delivery. So many better pizza joints in this part of town. Skip it.

Ordered from them last night. Mediocre at best.

Eek. So gross. I should've known but I figured since they were the first Italian option on my Delivery.com choices and I wanted baked ziti ASAP, I'd go with it. How wrong could baked ziti go anyway? Very wrong, apparently. Sauce was watery and the cheese was tasteless and rubbery. The meatballs were almost exactly like the meatballs that sometimes come with cans of Spaghetti O's, but worse. You could tell the ingredients were super cheap. I ate two bites and tossed it. Waste of $12 (including tip)! I can imagine their only business comes from people who live nearby who are hungry and don't feel like looking for another spot. But seriously, Yorkville residents, do not settle for this place. Your stomach will hate you forever.

Food was good - had the baked ziti w/ meatballs. Problem for me was that I got some pretty bad stomach pains the night I ate it. 2 days later, I had the leftovers and got the same stomach pains. I'm going to give it another shot one day, but the first order had it's pros & cons for sure.

LOL okay fine fine, on Javier's request I'll drop everything I'm doing and review this joint. I went with my girl on...Wednesday. And you walk in, it's a little hidden, for being on the corner. A big column and wall blocks the way and it's next to an empty storefront. The signs are written by hand in black marker on white posterboard. Somehow seeing those signs let me know that everything would be okay! That and the fact that in the midst of the spanish speaking employees there was an older man, presumably of Italian descent leading the way...giving us discounts on garlic knots...presiding over the front counter and oven. We got garlic knots and two slices, nothing special. But it was really good and also has the old school pizzeria vibe. They claim to make the best sandwiches...I saw the heros coming out of the oven and I'm inclined to agree based off of look and smell alone. Much recommended if you're in the area...it's not a DiFara's 'trek around the world' spot, but it is a walk five blocks in dress shoes type of spot.

What a great find! I didnt even know this place was there- its located under scaffolding and i literally found on my walk home from a bar on first avenue. I actually was surprised with how good the food was and have ordered in delivery several times since.... they are always on time and the food is still hot when it arrives. Prices are also not too bad either for NYC.

So, yeah... Francesca's. That's a tough name to spell repeatedly so I won't. Frannie's, from here on out. Frannie's is super near to my new apartment, so I've walked by a few dozen times and always wondered. Today I found out. When you walk into Frannie's the first thing you'll see is like a hot plate area that has things like, Mac 'n Cheese, and breaded chicken, mashed potatoes, and other comfort-y foods. This trend, wherein any restaurant, no matter what their specialty is also carries distinctly "American" food is totally lame. To be fair, these restaurants are usually in poorer areas, and Fran's is in such an area... ANYWAY. "Two slices, not too hot." I ask, and boom! There they are. The pizza is totally OK. Like, completely edible, didn't taste awful, and because of these facts I will return to Frannie's and buy more slices. I don't need incredible pizza everyday. I just want decent pizza whenever I want it. I'll also mention that a previous reviewer said that Frannie's had like, (and I'm paraphrasing here) "An authentic old-world feel" And that's totally and completely false. The interior of Fran's, although spacious and comfortable looks like it was decorated by someone who's never met an Italian. It seems like they ordered wall paper from a catalog that advertised "Authentic old-word flare for your restaurant!" It's boring and tired, and even feels vaguely fast-foodish, and not in a feel-good McDonalds-is-my-happy-place kind of way.

Their pizza is a bit on the rubbery side. I don't know what kind of cheese they use, but it wasn't really working for me. I've given up on this place after a few tries (my friend did drunkenly take a red pepper shaker from one of the tables once, so I guess it wasn't a complete loss). There hasn't been a line (or any real diners) the few times I've been here. I guess I'm just spoiled by the nearby Ray's Pizza a block away.

stopped by on a hungry night back from work. ordered the pepperoni and mushroom pizza and garlic knots. b/c the pepperoni and mushroom pizza is one of the less popular choices at a pizzeria, i knew it wont be at top notch condition. given that, the pizza was quite alright. or... quite average. the garlic knots were better than some other places. they roll up the dough thinner before making the knot resulting in a chewier less doughier garlic knot. which i prefer to the other kind. may not be the best pizza in the area but certainly an option for sudden pizza cravings.

This is a genuine NYC pizzeria. At one time the cops would eat there a lot and that says something but lately the cops are in the Korean deli a few stores away. They renovated the place about 2 years ago and raised the prices and varied the menu. I had many a great pizza from them at a reasonable price. My wife loved their chicken and rice dish. I am going cop the KGB deal for $12 for $30 worth of food. Like they put this sign outside and my dog Puggles peed on it and they got pissed off.

We tried the BBQ Chicken Pizza and wings last night. The wings were inedible. First of all, they were wet and mushy, but what was worse was that they tasted like chemicals. (What the heck do they use to season them?!) The pizza was not great but that might have been because we ordered the BBQ Chicken. Also, maybe this shouldn't matter but the delivery guy couldn't make change of a $20 (Really?!), couldn't respond when we asked why there was no bleu cheese for the wings because he didn't speak English and came back a few minutes later to ask for my receipt back. Huh? Won't be trying this place again.

Tastes like plain tomatoes...i don't taste any flavors in their sauce and pizzas...much better pizzerias in the area to go to.
(1)Jonathan M.
I agree with previous sentiment. The pies are a tad on the bready side. It is out of the way. Futhermore, you shouldn't go here to eat. It's out of the way. There happens to be a project building across the street. This is a delivery place though. It is also a budget option. Few places give you 18" pies for $12. The delivery is fast/friendly/free. I give it 5 stars because of the bang for the buck combination as well as the quality of taste surpasses the other 1st ave pizzerias. Oh, and call them pies for clarity when placing your order. Open till 10, but you better call before 9:30.

Solid italian on a night when you don't feel like cooking. Delivery service was on time which was nice, not so nice when the delivery guy charged more than my order (make sure you check the receipt)....besides that the food was good. good calzones.
